i have to say, i absolutely love this. great use of monochrome, great facial portrait, and great concept. i love how the emphesis is on the hole. as if she's been searching for something to fill it, tried all sorts of things but nothing has filled the hole, so she is sorrowful. wonderful piece, i'll fav this.

WOW WOW ! I LIKES !
the shading, colors, excellent handle with your painT!!!!!
:iconkevinweichel:
It would be nice to see a little bit of shading inside the puzzle peice, like darker at the bottom fading up to what you already have, I say this because that spot is probably where most of the viewers eyes will go. I love your style, I think you should've gotten more attention with this peice, it's some great art, and a great idea.

just beautiful... i would buy this painting in a heartbeat if it's right infront of me. conveys everything I feel most of the time...

please keep painting...

I like that, it's... nice
Pleasing to the eye.
Almost amusing how grayscale is used SO much that it gets boring, but when someone does a monochrome in a different colour it looks so... enjoyable. Great work

The piece makes a powerful statement. One suggestion, have you ever used photoshop displacement maps? It would make the puzzle literally wrap her face, what you do is define the using black, white and intermediate shades of gray, the the elevation or depth of the face and then you save it as a psd (make sure the doc sizes are all the same) then you open the file with the puzzle piece on a separate layer and load the displacement map on that "puzzle piece layer" and viola! instant perfect curving. (BTW ps has some puzzlepieces under shapes, but i'm sure u knew that) It would make it look like a piece of her actual face is missing.

But this would be traditional, right? In any case, this is really nice work. Very nice blending.
